The Social Apostolate of Savannah’s mission
is to be a witness to the biblical values of charity & justice in the city of Savannah by caring for and empowering the poor, the homeless, the disabled,

I hope you’re enjoying our website, which gives us the opportunity to share with many people the good news of the Social Apostolate. Our hope is that you’ll like what you see! I am very proud to be the director of the Social Apostolate and of the services we provide!

We have been reaching out to and trying to empower people who are homeless and at-risk of homelessness since 1968. We provide a wide variety of services. One of our goals always is to fill the gaps in services that prevent someone from moving forward on the path to self-sufficiency. To accomplish this goal one of our most successful programs has been our Birth Certificate/ID Program. We help clients by processing the paperwork and paying all fees, thus providing them with documents they need to find employment and apply for many other services and programs.

We believe that as we serve each client we are serving Jesus. (Matthew 25:40 “whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.”). Because of this belief we treat each client with the respect they deserve as a child of God. It is a blessed ministry that we do in collaboration with many people, especially the Catholic community of the Savannah area.

With a staff of only three full-time and four part-time employees and about ninety volunteers we served 4,279 individuals in 2014 with almost 25,000 services. We hope you can learn more about us, what we do, and how you can help by browsing through our web site. May God bless you!
