MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR:

Welcome to the web page of the Social Apostolate of Savannah, the social service agency of the Savannah deanery, of the Catholic Diocese of Savannah. As we serve the clients who come to us, we recall the words of Matthew’s gospel, “when I was hungry, you gave me to eat, when I was thirsty, you gave me to drink … naked and you clothed me, etc.” (Mt 25:35-36) ”, and we treat each person with the respect they deserve. It is an honor for us to be able to serve them!

With a staff of only three full-time and three part-time employees, and approximately 90 volunteers we help people who are homeless or otherwise
struggling, and hope that they will move forward in their lives.  Our mission is to be “a witness to the biblical values of charity and justice in the city of Savannah by caring for and empowering the poor, the homeless, the disabled, and the “At Risk” of our society.

Our donors give us the resources necessary, for which we are extremely grateful! We appreciate their donations of groceries, clothing, sandwiches, hygiene, Christmas gifts, food for the soup kitchen, and cash contributions. Our staff, volunteers and donors together accomplish so much! See the “Services” page for specific statistics. Last year we helped 3,859 individuals.

You may be interested in knowing that until mid-May we will be selling raffle tickets for a cruise, valued at $2,000, through Burns World Travel. The chances are being sold at $10.00 each. If you are interested in participating, mail your contribution to the Social Apostolate (or contribute through PayPal) and we’ll put your chances in the mail to you. Last year’s winner bought only one ticket! So, Good luck! You may be the lucky winner this year, if you participate.
